Clear aligners are removable and close to invisible, which is why most adults ask about them first. They suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing well. They also depend entirely on you — they only work while they are in, which for most plans means the great majority of the day and night. If that does not fit your life, fixed braces are the more reliable choice, and we would rather say so at the start.
Whichever route you take, treatment ends with retainers. Teeth drift back toward their original positions if nothing holds them, so retention is part of the treatment rather than an optional extra. We build it into the plan and the cost from the beginning.

With fixed braces, cleaning takes longer and matters more — food traps around brackets and causes decay if left. Use an interdental brush, and avoid very hard or sticky food that can pull a bracket off. With aligners, wear them for the hours your dentist specifies and clean them as instructed.
When active treatment finishes, wear your retainers exactly as directed. This is the stage people neglect, and it is the reason a small number of cases relapse after a successful result. Retention is what protects everything the treatment achieved.
